Our customers have long recognized that Instana has the best APM Observability capabilities in the industry. Now others are starting to notice too, including Gartner!
Instana enables users to autonomously manage the most dynamic applications, whether they are running on mainframes, cloud providers, or mobile phones. But what about getting a view of application performance from the outside? How can you measure your users’ perceived application performance?
We are proud to announce that we are adding synthetic monitoring to Instana. Synthetic monitoring with Instana will provide an outside-in view of application performance. It will aid in indicating when there are network problems between the end user and backend services. Instana users will soon be able leverage synthetics and topology to evaluate test coverage with recommendations for additional tests.
We will be adding the ability to test APIs and websites. Tests will be executed by Instana Points of Presence (PoPs), which could be hosted from anywhere a customer needs to test for example, applications behind the firewall could be tested by a PoP in the same network zone, even for SaaS customers. Instana also plans to host PoPs in various hyper scales and geographic regions.
In Instana release 227, we started with a limited technical preview for a few customers. Look for further announcements as we progress towards an open beta. Interested? We invite you to post your ideas to help shape our application feature request going forward. Do you want to talk with us about synthetic monitoring?
