Release with Confidence – Observability for Microservices
In modern microservice environments, it’s no longer enough to just collect telemetry; there must be actionable insights derived from this data compiled in real time. In this session, Kevin Crawley of Instana demonstrates how modern organizations are capable of understanding the complexity of large microservice environments using a combination of distributed tracing, metrics, and logging. Kevin demonstrates application deployment in Kubernetes and how Instana combines and analyzes the data collected via all three pillars of observability to empower developers and SREs to understand the performance impacts of those deployments.
About Kevin Crawley:
At his previous jobs Kevin was responsible for designing and building distributed scheduling systems utilizing Amazon SQS, DynamoDB, Kinesis and Redshift. His most recent project he was responsible for a modern software delivery platform using Go/Angular which was integrated with Docker Swarm and Gitlab. This application is capable of delivering phoenix environments and a fully configurable production pipeline. This application manages the SDLC of over 1000 containers and dozens of engineers building on a Kafka, Cassandra, and Spring Boot ecosystem.
