Instana Cloud Service Agents

Every Cloud provider offers services that it manages directly. For example, while you can get data in and out of an Amazon Relational Database Service (RDS) instance, you do not have access to the infrastructure powering it.

The Instana host agent can be set up in specific ways to monitor such services:

  • the Amazon (AWS) documentation shows how to set up the Instana host agent to monitor managed services on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • the Azure documentation shows how to set up the Instana host agent to monitor managed services on Microsoft Azure.
  • the Google Cloud Platform documentation shows how to set up the Instana host agent to monitor managed services on Google Cloud Platform.

Notice that the setups described above are not intended to monitor particular Virtual Machines on the Cloud providers. For monitoring the host and software running on Virtual Machines running on Cloud providers, like an Amazon Elastic Cloud (Amazon EC2) VM, refer to the Install the Instana Host Agent documentation.
