Chris Farrell is an Observability Strategist and Instana's Vice President of Value Services. He has over 25 years of experience in high-tech, spanning engineering, marketing, and sales. Chris’ technology experience includes Observability & APM, Mobile Computing & App Development, DevOps / IT Ops, Digital Experience, AR and social media. Chris has been a Product and/or marketing executive in the APM / Observability market for 20 years, including the launch of the world’s first APM tool. Since then, Chris has led Marketing and Product strategy for multiple APM and IT Management ventures. Before moving into the world of Startups, Chris was the Segment Manager for IBM’s Wireless Middleware Suite and the lead BIOS engineer for the first IBM IntelliStation. Chris lives with his wife and two Siamese cats in Raleigh, North Carolina, less than 3 miles away from the IBM software campus which he helped physically build as an IBM intern in college. In his spare time, Chris enjoys basketball, movies and theatre. He has a BSEE and MBA from Duke University.
